Literature is a category of fictional works, that includes novels, poems, etc. The page lists (in chronological order) more than 1,400 works of Literature on Second Temple Judaism (Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Origins), from the 15th century to the present.

Overview
Overview

Second Temple Judaism offered the Literature a number of interesting subjects from both Jewish history and Christian origins. All major characters and events of Second Temple Judaism have received some fictional treatment in Literature. There are, first of all, numerous works of literature that deal with Jesus of Nazareth--his Life, Nativity or Passion. Other characters associated with Jesus have also received a great deal of attention (such as Mary of Nazareth, Mary Magdalene, Judas Iscariot, Caiaphas, Pilate, Barabbas, Peter, Paul of Tarsus). The same is true about other Second Temple Jewish characters (Maccabees, Ben-Hur, Salome, Bar-Kochbah) or events of the time (Jewish War, Siege of Masada). There are many plays or novels dealing with the development of the early Christian movement after the death of Jesus (The Last Days of Pompeii, Quo Vadis?, The Sign of the Cross, The Robe, The Silver Chalice).
