Johann Christian Hallmann (c1640-c1704) was a German playwright. Born in Silesia (now Poland) and trained as a lawyer, Johann Christian Hallmann took to the stage, writing plays for performance by his own itinerant company. Little is known about his life, except that at some point he converted to Roman Catholicism. Many of his plays deal with episodes of death and martyrdom. There are conflicting reports about his death in Breslau (c.1704) or Vienna (c.1716).
