Die jüdische Krieg <German> / The Jewish War [aka Josephus] (1932) is a novel by Lion Feuchtwanger.

Abstract

In 64 CE, the Jewish historian visits Rome, then goes back to Judea, where he is directly involved in the Jewish War until the fall of Jerusalem in 70 CE, when he returns to Rome to begin his life as a writer.

First part of a trilogy on Flavius Josephus, followed by Die Söhne = The Jew of Rome (1935 Feuchtwanger), novel, and Der Tag wird kommen = Josephus and the Emperor (1942 Feuchtwanger), novel.
