John Crowne (1641-1712) was a British playwright. Born in Nova Scotia, attended Harvard College from 1657 to 1660 while his father resided in Boston during the Protectorate. Back to England, was the first Harvard man who succeeded in making a living by practicing a recognized form of literature.
