Overview The Germans are an ethnic group that primarily inhabit Germany and speak the German language (circa 150 million worldwide). Most Germans today live within the borders of independent Germany (circa 80 million). There are German minorities in the nearby Czech Republic, and Poland, and sizeable populations of immigrants and their descendants in the United States, Canada and other countries.
