Friedrich Ludwig Zacharias Werner (1768-1823) was a German playwright. Born at Königsberg, East Prussia on November 18, 1768. After studying Law and pursing a literary career, in 1811 converted to Catholicism and was ordained a priest in 1814. Became a popular preacher at Vienna and a strong supporter of the Restoration. Died in Vienna on January 17, 1823.
