When Theresienstadt was liberated by the Soviet Army on May 8, 1945, they found around 1,600 children. Half of them were children that had spent most of the war at the cam, the other half were children (mostly teenagers) who arrived at Theresienstadt from other camps (Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen, etc.) during the last days of the war.
