Spanish is the primary language of Scholarship and Fiction used since the 16th century in Spain (see Spanish Scholarship and Spanish Fiction) and large parts of South and Central America (see Latino Scholarship and Latino Fiction).

The tradition of translating fictional works into Spanish is already well-established in the 19th century.

The first major scholarly work to be translated into Spanish is the Historia de Israel. 2: Desde el exilio hasta el año 135 después de Cristo (1947 Ricciotti), book (Spanish ed.).
