History of Research (1600s) -- Notes

Cantatas developed into short sacred dialogues and sacred dialogues into oratorios, where biblical episodes were narrated in dramatic fashion. Topics were no longer limited to the life of Jesus, but covered the entire range of biblical history, including the OT Apocrypha, even episodes from ancient Jewish history.
