Overview The Albanians are an ethnic group that primarily inhabit Albania and neighboring countries and speak the Albanian language (circa 7 million). Most Albanians today live within the borders of independent Albania (circa 2,500,000) and semi-independent Kosovo (circa 1,500,000). There are Albanians minorities in nearby Macedonia, Greece, and Montenegro, and sizeable populations of immigrants and their descendants in Italy, Germany, Turkey, and the United States.
