Martin Camaj

Martin Camaj (1925-1992) was an Albanian scholar, linguist, writer and folklorist. Born in Albania, he first studied at the Jesuit Saverian College of Shkodër and afterwards at the University of Belgrade. Later Camaj worked as professor of Albanian at the Sapienza University of Rome, where he did postgraduate research. In 1957 he became the editor-in-chief of the Albanological journal Shejzat published in Rome. In 1961 he settled in Munich, where he worked at the Ludwig Maximilian University. In 1977 he edited with Giuseppe Valentini a reprint of the 1685 edition of Çeta e profetëve / Cuneus Prophetarum (The Bands of the Prophets / 1685 Bogdani), book (Albanian-Latin ed.)
