The 2000s were marked also by a remarkable growth of conversation across Biblical Studies and Qurʾānic Studies. “Quran and Bible” was started as a joint AAR-SBL initiative around 2004, later migrating to SBL, and the topic garnered its own unit in the SBL International Meeting approximately five years later. Scholars were now engaged to situate Arabia, Iran, and early Islam in their late antique contexts.
