Biography

Dan Buchler was born July 31, 1938 in Zagreb, Croatia, to Serbian parents (Arpad Buchler and Renè Zeitlin). In 1941, the family (father, mother and three siblings) arrived as refugees in Malo, near Vicenza, Italy, where Hanna was born. They remained at Malo until Sept 14, 1943, when they went into hiding until liberation. In July 1944, father, mother and the four siblings sailed to Fort Ontario, United States. Father died at the camp on February 19, 1945.
