Overview
The Austrians are an ethnic group that primarily inhabit Austria and speak the German language (circa 10 million).
Most Austrians today live within the borders of independent Austria (circa 8 million). There are Austrian minorities in nearby Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, and sizeable populations of immigrants and their descendants in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries.
