Egon Friedell (1878-1938) was an Austrian Jewish playwright. Austrian philosopher, historian, journalist, actor, cabaret performer and theatre critic. Born from a Jewish family, converted to Christianity around 1897. In 1938 committed suicide when the Gestapo came to arrest him.
