Andrew Viterbi / Andrea Viterbi (M / Italy, 1935), Holocaust survivor

Biography

Andrea Giacomo Viterbi was born in Bergamo, Italy, to an Italian-Jewish family. In 1939, after the Racial Laws, the family fled to the United States.

Viterbi became an American electrical engineer and businessman who co-founded Qualcomm Inc. and invented the Viterbi algorithm.
