Overview
The Portuguese are an ethnic group that primarily inhabit Portugal and speak the Portuguese language (circa 31 million).
Most Portuguese today live within the borders of independent Portugal (circa 11 million). There are Portuguese minorities in nearby Spain, and sizeable populations of immigrants and their descendants in Brazil, the United States, France, and other countries.
