The category: Latvian, highlights the national and linguistic identity of people, associated with Latvia and Latvian language and culture.

Overview

The Latvians, or Letts, are an ethnic group that primarily inhabit Latvia and speak the Latvian language (circa 1,800,000).

Most Latvians today live within the borders of independent Latvia (circa 1,300,000). There are Latvian minorities in nearby Russia, and sizeable populations of immigrants and their descendants in the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
