Erodiade <Italian> / Herodias (Italy, 1912) is a short film (silent, B&W, 25m), directed by Oreste Mentasti.

Abstract
Herodias deceives her husband and uncle, the old tetrarch Herod Boethus, with his brother, Herod Antipas. She has her husband murdered by a Nubian colossus, while her daughter Salome makes Jean-Baptiste incarcerated as he resists her charms. After the saint's decollation, Salome kisses his head, her parents flee from horror, and the soldiers pierce her with their spears. In spite of the title, the star is Salome, played by the dancer Suzanne de Labroy. The film was meant to be projected with the accompaniment of the music by Strauss.
