Ο ανήφορος του Γολγοθά <Greek> / The Uphill of Golgotha (1917) is a silent film directed by Dimos Vratsanos.
Abstract
It was the first religious film in Greece and generated a lot of controversy in conservative circles that opposed the project as blasphemous. Shot in Athens, it could not be completed according to the original script, as the filming was interrupted by a hostile crowd. The plot goes around the story of a young woman who studies in a Cycladic monastery and envisions the passion of Christ.
