Biography
Walter Mundstein was born March 25, 1931 in Vienna, Austria. Walter and Heinz were the children of Sigfrido Mundstein and Maddalena Baumhan. As refugees in Italy, in May 1940 they joined the Benghasi Group and went to Libya, hoping to reach Palestine. From Libya they were sent to Ferramonti in September 1940 and then to Civitella Paganico (Grosseto) in September 1941. They survived in hiding during the German occupation. In October 1944 they were in Rome, Italy.
