The Martyr of the Catacombs (1858) is a novel by James De Mille.

Abstract

“A tale of ancient Rome,” tells the story of a young Roman soldier who converted to Christianity in the first century and of fictional characters consigned to live out their lives in the catacombs of Rome, emphasizing the severe persecutions they had to suffer.

Editions

Published (and still reprinted) anonymously (“By an Anonymous Christian”). Reissued numerous times as recently as 1991; translated into Korean (1973).
