The First of the Maccabees (1855) is a novel by Isaac Mayer Wise.
Abstract
A historical novel by one of the leaders of Reform Judaism in America. The scholar and founder of the Hebrew Union College gave a Jewish perspective to a field so far dominated by Christian authors.
