Biography

Heinz Sinasohn (Henry Sinason, 26 Aug 1925) and Gunther Sinasohn (Gerard Sinasohn, George Sinason, 29 Oct 1926) were born in Berlin, Germany. As refugees in France at Chateau de Chabannes, Gunther was among the unaccompanied children aboard the SS Mouzinho (August 1941), reaching the United States, while his brother Heinz followed him one month later on the SS Serpa Pinto (September 1941).

Their parents escaped to Shangai, China. The family was reunited only in 1947.

Durant la guerre Gerard Sinasohn est pris en charge par l'OSE, il séjourne au Château de Chabannes dans la Creuse.

Puis à l'âge de 14 ans, le 20 août 1941 il part de Lisbonne en bateau pour New York. Il arrive le 2 septembre à New York en possession de 50 $. Il est ensuite pris en charge par le United States Committee of protection of European children à New York.
