Biography
Elisa (Alis) Almuly was born April 10, 1936 in Belgrade, Serbia, to Josef Almuly and Reli Benarojo. Father was a POW in Germany from the Yugoslav Army. As refugees from Yugoslavia, the family (mother and daughters) arrived at KZ Spalato in Dalmatia. They were sent to KZ Treviso (Cison di Valmartino) in 1941. After Sept 1943 they survived in hiding at Amandola (Ascoli Piceno), thanks to the support of the local population. After Liberation, they were in DP Lecce where they were reunited with father. After a few years in Rome, they eventually immigrated to the United States in 1952.

Elisa Almuli, di Joseph e Reli Bernarojo, nata a Belgrado il 18 aprile 1936. Arriva in Italia il 30 novembre 1941 da Spalato assieme alla madre e ad altri parenti tutti internati a Cison. Dopo l’armistizio le famiglie Almuli e Eschenazi fuggono verso l’Italia meridionale. Ad Amandola (Ascoli Piceno) tutto il gruppo viene aiutato da Giuseppe Brutti e da sua moglie Elvira Lucci, riconosciuti “Giusti tra le Nazioni” il 13 aprile 2004. Dopo la guerra emigra negli Stati Uniti.
