According to Jewish traditions, Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth.

Overview

The narratives says that the Israelite Naomi and her husband Elimelech emigrated from Israel to nearby Moab. Their sons, Mahlon and Chilion, married two Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah, respectively. When after the premature death of Elimelech, Maholon and Chilion, Naomi decided to go back to Bethlehem, Ruth follows her. There Naomi arranges the marriage between Ruth and Boaz.
