According to Jewish traditions, Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth.
Overview
The narratives says that the Israelite Naomi and her husband Elimelech emigrated from Israel to nearby Moab. Their sons, Mahlon and Chilion, married two Moabite women, Ruth and Orpah, respectively. When the premature death of Elimelech, Mahlon and Chilion pushed Naomi back to Bethlehem, Ruth followed her. There Naomi arranged the marriage between Ruth and Boaz.
