Alfred John Church (1829-1912) was a British novelist. Born in London, England. Educated at King's College London, and Lincoln College, Oxford. Assistant-master at Merchant Taylors' School and then, 1880-1888, Professor of Latin at University College, London. After retiring, published numerous novels aimed to retell classical and religious stories to young people.
