August Friedrich Gfrörer (1803-1861), scholar

August Friedrich Gfrörer (1803-1861) was a German scholar. By making use of all the sources then available, including the Pseudepigrapha, produced one of the first valuable attempt at a systematic presentation of the "Jewish background" of the New Testament.
