(+) Barabbas (1961 Fleischer), feature film
Barabbas (1961) is a feature film (sound, color, 137m), directed by Richard Fleischer. Soundtrack by Mario Nascimbeni.
Abstract
An elusive character at best in the Bible, Barabbas' life is shown here as one that is eventually touched and saved by the fleeting association with Jesus. In many ways breaks with epic film convention: there is no parallel love-story and the action is interspersed with anguished philosophical questions about the meaning of existence. Based on Barabbas (1950 Lagerkvist), novel, and Barabbas (1952 Lagerkvist), play.
