Published in New York, NY: Herder, 1971; translated from the German by Ronald Walls. A revised edition, "expanded and largely rewritten by the Author in collaboration with R. Steven Notley," was published in Jerusalem: Magnes Press, 1997; and reissued in Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans, 2002, under the title The Sage from Galilee: Rediscovering Jesus's Genius, with an Introduction by James H. Charlesworth.
