Three scholars led the renaissance of Enochic Studies in the 1990s--George W.E. Nickelsburg and James C. VanderKam in the United States and Paolo Sacchi in Italy (and his students and collaborators Sabino Chiala and Gabriele Boccaccini). In the 1990s the "Italian School" produced three fundamental works on Enoch--a general outline of the Enochic apocalyptic tradition provided by Paolo Sacchi in 1990 (ET 1996), a commentary on the Parables of Enoch by Sabino Chiala, and a book on the influence of Enochic Judaism on Qumran origins by Gabriele Boccaccini in 1998.
