Child John the Baptist with Jesus depicts the meetings between the two young "cousins," John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth. The two children usually are portraited with other relatives, notably, their respective mothers Mary of Nazareth and Elizabeth, but also occasionally including their fathers Joseph of Nazareth and (less frequently) Zacharias, or other members of the Holy Family.
