- Succeeded Aretas II
- Defeated the Hasmoneans in 93 BCE in a battle on the Golan Hights
- Died in battle against the Seleucids, but saved the kingdom from invasion
- Was Worshiped as a god even after his death
- Aretas III Philhellenos, 87 to 62 BCE

- Conquered Damascus from the Seleucids in 84 BCE.
