Obodas I was a Nabatean King, 96 to 85 BCE.


Overview

Obodas I was the successor of Aretas II.

After the fall of Gaza, the war between the Hasmoneans and the Nabateans continued in Transjordan. In 93 BCE Obodas I defeated the Jewish army near Gadara.

Around 86 BCE, the Seleucids invaded Nabatea. Obodas I died in battle, but saved the kingdom from invasion.
