Works of cinema related to Berenice
Overview
The presence of Berenice on cinema and television is limited to some video recordings of theatrical productions of plays (by Järnefelt, and above all, Racine). The only two exceptions are provided by two TV mini-series. The first one, in 1981, presents the meeting between Paul of Tarsus and Berenice at Caesarea Maritima, according to the Acts of the Apostles The other one, in 2007, does it in the context of the adventures of a group of children "at the time of Titus".
Performing Berenice (cinema & television)
Berenice is recorded in ancient sources as a woman of great personality, intelligence and charm, and as such is presented on the screen. Not surprisingly, among the limited group of women who have played the role, we find some of the best European actresses, from Danièle Lebrun to Anne Alvaro and Carole Bouquet
