Evil-merodach / Amel-Marduk was King of Babylon, from 562 to his assassination in 560 BCE.

Overview

Evil-merodach was the son and successor of king Nebuchadnezzar. He was murdered by his brother-in-law, Neriglissar, who succeeded him.

Evil-merodach released the Davidic king Jehoiachin of Judah from prison, and let him join the other hostage kings at the court of Babylon.
