Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) is a feature film (sound, color, 108m), directed by Norman Jewison, with André Previn (conductor).

Highly successful adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar (1970 Webber / Rice), opera presents a group of young actors reenacting the life of Jesus in archaeological locations in the desert of Negev, Israel.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received, becoming the eighth highest-grossing film of 1973. Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were each nominated for a Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively, and Yvonne Elliman was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Mary Magdalene. Bob Bingham (Caiaphas) and Barry Dennen (Pilate) also reprised their roles.
