Women Authorship (1400s) -- History of research -- Overview Lucrezia Tornabuoni was the first woman to contribute to the field of Jewish and Christian Origins with a collection of five short biographical sketches of biblical characters, including Judith, Tobias, Esther, Susanna, and John the Baptist. The wife of Piero de' Medici and mother of Lorenzo de' Medici belonged to a noble family of bankers, who supported the Medici's rise to power. She was an accomplished poetess and patron of the arts.
