Atta Troll <German> (1843) is a play by Heinrich Heine.
Abstract
Written in 1841, Heine’s Sommernachtstraum was first published in Die Zeitung für die elegante Welt (1843) and in its full final form as a separate publication in 1847. First to attribute John’s decapitation to a sexual desire on the part of Herodias, who demanded the head of the prophet and kissed it in the heat of passion. Translated into French, English and Italian, inspired Oscar Wilde’s play.
