Evil-merodach was the son and successor of king [[Nebuchadnezzar]]. He was murdered by his brother-in-law, [[Neriglissar]], who succeeded him.
Evil-merodach released the Davidic king [[Jehoiachin]] of Judah from prison, and let him join the other hostage kings at the court of Babylon.
