John of Giscala was a Jewish leader and Messiah Claimant during the Jewish War.
Overview
John of Giscala fled his hometown shortly before it was taken by the Romans. In Jerusalem he became one of the leaders of the Zealot party fighting for hegemony against Eleazar ben Simon and Simon bar Giora. After the fall of Jerusalem he was captured by the Romans and sent captive to Rome.
