Yudif <Russian> / Judith (1863) is an opera by Aleksandr N. Serov (mus. and libr.).
Abstract
Based on Giuditta (1857 Giacometti), play, the libretto was initially written in Italian by Ivan Antonovich Giustiniani. When it became clear that legal reasons would prevent the performance in Italian, the libretto was translated into Russian by Konstantin Zvantsov and Dmitry Lobanov, and supplemented with additional verses by the poet Apollon Maykov.
