Robert Henry Pfeiffer (1892-1958) was an American scholar. Born and raised in Bologna, Italy. Studied at the Universities of Berlin and Tübingen in Germany (1913–14) and at the University of Geneva in Switzerland (1915). Received his MA (1920) and PhD (1922) from Harvard University. Ordained Methodist minister in 1916. Held a pastorate in Sanborn, New York, from 1916 to 1919. Hired as Professor at Harvard in 1922. Author in 1949 of one of the most influential introductions to Second Temple Judaism.
