Abstract

Written with the express purpose of updating Schurer’s Geschichte des Judischen Volkes, Pfeiffer divides his enormously popular critical examination of the New Testament times into two parts. Part I provides a critical summary of the history, religion, and literature of Judaism from 200 B.C. to 200 A.C., while part two functions as a detailed introduction to the Apocrypha.
