Herodes und Mariamne <German> / Herod and Mariamne (1849) is a play by Friedrich Hebbel.

Abstract

Tragedy in five acts. By the future author of Die Nibelungen (1862).

Editions, performances, translations

Premiered in Vienna [Austria]: Burgtheater, 19 April 1849. The play would enjoy large international success in the first half of the 20th century. Published in Vienna [Austria]: Gerold, 1849. Translated into the major European languages and into Hebrew.
