According to Jewish (Christian, and Islamic) traditions, Gabriel is an Angel and one of the four Archangels of God.

Overview
1 Enoch introduces Gabriel as one of the four Archangels performing God's vengeance against the Fallen Angels.
In the Book of Daniel, Gabriel acts as a revealer of God's will and interpreter in two visions (chs. 8 & 9).
