Ferdinand Christian Baur (1792-1860) was a German scholar.
Biography
Baur studied in 1809-14 at the University of Tübingen under Ernst Gottlieb Bengel. After graduation he taught in Blaubeuren until he returned to Tübingen in 1826 as Professor. Profoundly influenced by Hegel, Baur was the leader of the Tübingen School. David Friedrich Strauss was one of his first students.
