Pierre Benoit, O.P. (1906-1987) was a French scholar.

Biography

Director (1965-1972) of the Ecole Biblique et Archéologique Française in Jerusalem, where he succeded to Fr. Roland de Vaux. He participated in the Second Vatican Council (1963-1965) in the capacity of Theological Expert. Appointed to the Roman Catholic Pontifical Biblical Commission in 1972, of which he remained a member until his death in 1987.
