Only [[The Last Days of Pompeii (1935 Schoedsack), film]] and this version of Lytton's novel attempted to include the story of Jesus and the crucifixion with the later eruption of Vesuvius. Bonnard's film, however, is less religious-oriented and opted to accentuate its arena and orgy sequences. Starring Steve Reeves (Glaucus).
[[Mario Bonnard]] was the credited director but it was actually his assistant director [[Sergio Leone]] who completed the film when Bonnard became severely ill during production.

Gli ultimi giorni di Pompei <Italian> / The Last Days of Pompeii (1959) is a feature film (sound, color, 103m), directed by Mario Bonnard and Sergio Leone. Based on The Last Days of Pompeii (1834 Lytton), novel.
